Play with a casino bonus in Nigeria

The idea behind casino bonuses is usually to attract new players to a casino. For the most part, these bonuses are deposited in the form of bonus funds on your deposit. Usually, you can find welcome bonuses when you register an account but many Nigerian casinos also have bonuses you can get at subsequent deposits.

Sometimes new casinos have especially impressive casino bonuses. This is partly because they have a need to raise player’s interest by showing them something very impressive. Older casinos usually don’t need to do this in the same way as they already have a good reputation.

Casinos generally update their bonuses regularly to be able to compete with other Nigerian casinos online. In our casino reviews, we try to keep updated with these bonuses so that you can always read about the current offers from the casinos. If you find that any casino has changed their bonus since our casino reviews, please let us know.

Now we will start talking about how casino bonuses work in Nigeria so you can find the bonus that is best for you.

Different Types of Casino Bonus in Nigeria

There are hundreds of different casino bonuses in Nigerian online casinos. That means it can be very difficult for new players to navigate the large selection. This is especially true because there are money bonuses that sound really good but there can be some hidden unlucky surprises in the bonus terms.

To make it easier to navigate the weird world of casino bonuses we are now going to take a look at the most common bonuses you can find at Nigerian casinos.

Welcome Bonus at Nigerian casinos

Some Nigerian casinos have welcome bonuses that can only be used by new players. These bonuses are a way to attract new players while the bonuses give extra funds to players to ease into the games at the casino.

A welcome bonus is activated when you make your first deposit at a casino.

There are a few things you need to keep in mind then you decide whether to accept a welcome bonus or not:

Welcome bonus example:

For example, a bonus can be advertised as 100% extra up to 100,000 Naira. This means that the casino will double your funds up to 100,000 NGN. If you deposit 100,000, the casino will give you another 100,000 NGN as bonus money. In this example, the advertisement states the bonus percentage and the maximum bonus sum.

The wagering requirements are usually found in the bonus terms. They can be for example 30x, which means that you will need to wager your bonus amount 30 times before you can make a withdrawal. In the previous example that means you will have to wager 3 million Naira before you can make a withdrawal

Deposit bonus

A deposit is very much like the welcome bonus we explained in the previous example. The only difference is that these bonuses will be given later on your adventure. A welcome bonus is given on your first deposit whereas other deposit bonuses can be given at any time.

Just like in a welcome bonus these bonuses usually have wagering requirements but there are also some casinos in Nigeria with no wagering requirement bonuses. We will talk about that under the next header.

No-wager deposit bonus

No wager deposit bonuses are completely normal bonuses. The big difference is that you don’t need to fulfill any wagering requirements to be able to withdraw your bonus funds.

With bonuses like this, you need to read the bonus terms extra carefully. Sometimes there might be a maximum withdrawal limit for bonuses like this.

No-deposit bonus

It’s difficult to find no-deposit bonuses in Nigerian casinos. When you manage to find one you need to know that these are some of the best bonuses you can find. These are bonuses that give you free money just by registering an account. You don’t need to make a deposit to get these bonus funds which makes them a very attractive option.

Like the no-wager bonuses you should also read the bonus terms carefully when you use these bonuses.

A cashback is when a casino gives you back some of the money you have lost on their casino games. It’s usually just a few percent but something is better than nothing, right?

One good example of a cashback bonus in Nigeria is the one you get if you play the exclusive 22Games at 22Bet Nigeria.

Free spins

Free spins are quite common at casinos around the world but a bit less so in Nigeria. These kinds of bonuses usually give you an amount of free spins on a certain slot.

A normal free spins bonus would be 100 free spins on the slot Book of Dead. To get your free spins you need to follow these steps:

A lot of times these free spins will have wagering requirements. That means you need to play your wagering requirements before you can make a withdrawal. There are also no-wager free spins in Nigeria, but they are not that common.

Odds & sport bonus

More likely than not you will find an odds bonus at the Nigerian online casino you’re playing at. There are usually deposit bonuses that work in a similar fashion to the deposit bonuses we talked about earlier.

There are a few things you need to think about when using a bonus for betting. While they have wagering requirements like most bonuses, with odds bonuses you usually have minimum odds you need to wager your bonus on. A common thing is that the bonus needs to be wagered at sports markets with odds of a minimum of 1,50.

Sports betting bonuses can also come in the form of free bets. With these bonuses, you deposit a sum and then you wager the minimum required amount on some sports market. If you win, you will get to keep your win, but if you lose the casino will reimburse you for the lost money.

As with bonuses for online slots, there are also no-wager and no-deposit betting bonuses in Nigeria.

Accumulator bets

Accumulator bets are something that is found at many African casinos. They are not as often found in the rest of the world, but something you will most likely find at betting sites in Tanzania, Kenya, and Ghana.

Accumulator bets give you an extra percentage on top of the normal payout you would get from a slip. The more betting objects you have on your slip, the more bonus you will get.

For example, if your odds would normally be 10 on a bet slip with 2 betting objects, the casino could give you an extra 20% if you have 10 betting objects. This would effectively give you odds of 12,00. Of course, it will be more difficult to get all the matches right as there are several matches on your betslip.

Refer a friend bonus

These bonuses are not very common in Nigeria. It’s actually a bonus type that is not commonly found at international casinos anymore either. How they used to work was that a player got a small bonus if they referred a friend to a certain online casino. In some cases, the new player also got a bonus.

Loyalty programs and loyalty bonuses

VIP programs are still a common thing in Nigeria. These are loyalty programs that reward you if you play more. Usually, it comes in the form of loyalty points that you can collect when completing certain milestones.

So what can you do with the loyalty points? These loyalty points can then be exchanged for different rewards. The reward can be free spins, deposit bonuses, or other perks like airplane tickets and the like.

A typical example of a VIP Program would be the one at Bet9ja. There you can spend your reward points at their very popular Bet9ja shop.

How can I get my casino bonus?

It’s usually pretty straightforward to get your welcome bonus or deposit bonus. The Nigerian casinos are working hard to make it as easy as possible for you to register at a casino.

How you can use a bonus:

Bonuses with Skrill and Neteller

These two deposit methods need their own header. One of the reasons for that is that they can be found at many of the best Nigerian online casinos and betting sites. The other reason is that deposits with these popular eWallets are usually not eligible for bonuses.

For some reason, we have read time and time again in bonus terms that you cannot use a bonus while playing at a Neteller Casino or Skrill Casino. We are not sure exactly why this is but it’s something important to keep in mind.

How do I get my bonus money or free spins?

If you have chosen a casino that offers a no deposit bonus or no deposit free spins it’s easy. You just need to log in to your casino account. Your bonus should then already be credited to your account.

If the bonus is free spins without deposit then you need to find the online slot the free spins should be played on. After you’ve played your free spins it all depends if the free spins have wagering requirements or if they are free spins without wagering. If they have wagering requirements you need to fulfil them before making a withdrawal. If they are free spins without wagering you can directly withdraw your money.

In general, it’s nothing to worry about because modern Nigerian betting sites and online casinos usually give you clear instructions on how you can get your bonuses.

A brief guide about casino bonuses for new players

We know that all the previous text can be a bit overwhelming for a beginner. That’s why we want to make a brief guide about how casino bonuses work. If you want more of the nitty gritty, we recommend reading everything else in this guide, but if you just want to know the basics you’ve arrived to the right place.

The goal of this brief guide is to give you the best possible start to your casino adventure. After all, the welcome bonus is usually the first step you take at a new online casino.

When it comes to casino bonuses, there are a lot of things you need to be careful about. There are literally thousands of pages that are just trying to promote the boat casino bonuses out there. But did you know? A lot of these are done by the online casinos themselves or their affiliates, of course, they will praise a certain casino bonus.

We’re not like that. We don’t care if a casino would give us money, if they give us a bad user experience, then we will write about it. We can guarantee you that our casino reviews will always be 100% honest. There are too many good casinos out there to promote the bad ones.

What is a casino bonus?

Most of the time a casino bonus in Nigeria is a deposit bonus. This means that a casino will give you an extra bonus amount when you make your first deposit. That means you will have a bit more money to play for than you would have without a bonus.

Nigerian welcome bonuses will generally double your first deposit. This is also called a 100% match bonus. These bonuses always have a maximum bonus amount you can get from them. It can, for example, be 100% extra on a deposit of 100,000 Naira.

But of course, doubling your deposit does not come for free. These bonuses usually come with a wagering requirement. This is something you need to fulfill before you make a withdrawal. You usually need to bet for a certain amount of money before you can withdraw your bonus cash. Sometimes the bonuses don´t have any wager at all and these are called no-wager deposit bonuses.

During our time in the industry, wagering requirements have ranged from none at all to 100 times your bonus funds. All this depends on the current competition between Nigerian online casinos. The deposit bonuses for them are a way to attract new players. The competition can sometimes become very heated and the requirements get lower and lower. Sometimes Nigerian regulations come in between and the wagering requirements get higher. You never know what you will get but in general, we will try to compare casino bonuses to the current market.

As a player, we also recommend you to read the bonus requirements carefully. We always report in our honest casino reviews about Nigerian casinos if we find something odd, but it´s always good to check what the current terms are.

Sometimes Nigerian casinos offer no-deposit bonuses. These are not very common but Nigerian players tend to absolutely love them. For more information about that we recommend you to read our article No deposit casino bonus.

Casino bonus in Nigeria – Bonus amount and percentage

These two parts are the most common parts of a casino bonus in Nigeria. If you´ve ever played at an online casino you will probably have seen the format before.

X percent bonus up to Y Naira.

Example 1:

To make it easy we can use an example of 100% percent bonus up to 10,000 Naira. 100% is the bonus percentage while 10,000 Naira is the maximum bonus amount.

That doesn’t sound too complicated, does it?

You will get 100% extra on your deposit. That technically means the casino will double your deposit up to the maximum amount. Deposit 5000 Naira and they will give you 5000 Naira in bonus money. It’s not more difficult than that.

Example 2:

Sometimes the bonus percentage is larger than 100%. It could for example be 200% extra up to 20,000 Naira. This makes the whole thing a bit more complicated – is the 10,000 Naira the deposited amount or the max bonus amount?

It’s actually the maximum possible bonus. This means that if you deposit 10,000 Naira, the casino will give you 20,000 Naira in bonus money. You will then have 30,000 Naira to play for.

Wagering requirements and other casino bonus terms

Sometimes this part is more important than the bonus amount.

Even if a casino gives out a very large bonus it doesn’t mean much if the bonus terms are terrible. That’s why it’s very important for Nigerian players to keep an eye on the bonus terms.

Sometimes the bonus is very small but the bonus terms are very reasonable. This will still make it a good bonus even if it’s small.

How do I calculate wagering requirements:

There are two different ways of calculating wagering requirements for a bonus.

Both of these are technically the same, for some reason Nigerian online casinos just like to write the terms in different ways.

When the wagering requirements are calculated as bonus + deposit they’re usually double of what it says they are. It sounds good when they say the wagering requirements are 25x bonus + deposit, but this technically means the wagering requirements are 50x the bonus amount. That is definitely something to keep in mind when you are checking the wagering requirements of a bonus.

It’s good to be skeptical

Online casinos are no charities. Of course, they are in the business of making money. They are not just going to give away money without there being anything in it for them. That’s why they usually have wagering requirements and other bonus terms. Some of the bonus terms are more fair than others and that’s why we always recommend that you read our casino reviews before starting to play at a casino. Of course, there are also casinos with no wagering requirements in Nigeria, but they are not very common.

A good rule of thumb is to have a bit of an extra look at the bonus requirements if the bonus sounds too good to be true. Sometimes we see bonuses as big as 1 million Naira, but usually, it’s not as good as it sounds. It’s very likely you will get that big of a bonus bet sometimes the wagering requirements are abysmal. That technically means that you will never have a chance to withdraw the bonus money. Unless you are very lucky.

That’s why it’s very important for you to read the bonus terms at every casino. They can be vastly different and it´s not always a casino that offers a fair bonus. If a casino promises you to win there is one thing to remember – there is no guaranteed win in the casino industry. If you read our casino reviews you will find all the intricate details of the casino bonuses so you can be as prepared as possible when you start your casino adventure.
